- Ancona is the largest town and the administration centre of Le Marche Region. It has one of the largest seaports on the Adriatic and a history that goes all the way back to the Bronze Age. Some of its coastline is totally unspoiled and dramatic as Mount Conero reaches the sea. The town is dominated by the very well known Cathedral of San Ciriaco. Must see: Lazzareto, Porta Pia, Piazza della Repubblica, Teatro delle Muse, Arco di Troiano (the most famous Roman monument in the Marche region).
