- Macerata is set in the rolling farmlands
of Le Marche and is home to one of Italy’s oldest Universities. Built
of mellow hazelnut coloured brick, its old centre is still almost completely
surrounded by the 16th century walls. Macerata has an unusual open-air theatre – the
Sferisterio which is a vast arena which holds concerts and operas on a regular
basis. Central in the city is the Piazza della Liberta which contains beautiful
Palazzi and churches. Walking through the CorsoMatteotti and the Corso della
Repubblica are just part of the delights of this beautiful city.
